A RACING boat worth £5,000 was taken off a trailer in Bradford on Avon's Countryside Park, used on the river then returned damaged.
The Aylings Coxless Four rowing boat was removed from a trailer parked next to the River Avon at Barton Farm between 3pm and 5pm on Saturday.
The boat was put into the water and later returned to the trailer with a hole in it.
The boat is similar in style to one used by Sir Steve Redgrave and his team mates in their famous Olympic wins.
PC Gary Jones said: "It would have taken at least four people to lift the boat back on to the trailer. It was very hot and sunny and there were many people using the county park."
Anybody who saw the boat being taken, being used on the river or returned to the trailer should ring Bradford police on (01225) 862222.
