PARTYGOERS will be treated to an extra 24 hours of free entertainment as a £5,000 lottery grant adds an extra day to this year's Spotlight on Trowbridge fiesta.
The six-day festival, in the county town, will be extended to seven, with the final day devoted to up-and-coming bands from across Trowbridge and west Wiltshire.
Any local band can apply to play a set on stage, but organisers are warning acts that obscene lyrics and lewd behaviour are out of the question.
Chart-toppers 911 are already signed up to appear on July 17, in what was the event's grand finale until news of the lottery grant from the Awards For All scheme was confirmed.
Trowbridge Town Council is footing most of the bill for the event, with the grant coming as a welcome boost.
Sports and community development officer Steve Nash said: "Being able to extend the event by a day is great news.
"It will give local bands and groups a chance to play on stage during the final day.
"We are appealing for young bands from across Trowbridge and west Wiltshire to come and play a set for the crowds.
"There is a lot of talent out there, and this will be an opportunity for these bands to play in front of an audience.
"Before any groups come forward they must consider whether they are a family act.
"One year we had a band who just repeated the same swear word over and over again.
"I had to pull the plug. We don't want to upset the local residents."
Top girl band Monroe is the latest star act to confirm their appearance at Saturday's concert.
Sony Music UK has just signed up the all-female act and they will be releasing their debut single later this month.
Eurovision star Lisa Andreas, who represented Cyprus, and American cheerleaders Independence also feature in Saturday's billing.
Organisers of the event, designed to heighten the profile of Trowbridge businesses, organisations and community groups, hope former EastEnders star Carly Hillman, who played Italian schoolgirl Nicky Di Marco, will help host the weekend concerts.
Up to 50 organisations and groups will be hosting stands at the event with the bandstand end of the park already fully booked.
There are still stand spaces available, with organisers fine-tuning details well into next month.
