28355/5TWEENIES and Teletubbies were out in force in Hilperton at the weekend for the village's annual fete.
This year the theme for the event, which always takes place on the second Saturday in June, was favourite children's TV programmes.
The fete was opened by Giddy the clown who then judged the fancy dress competition and awarded a prize for the best decorated stall.
Proving to be particularly popular was the dunking
station, when people got a chance to try and hit a target to dunk the unfortunate person sitting in the chair.
The event is the biggest annual fundraiser for the four churches in Hilperton, Staverton and Hilperton Marsh and this year proved to be the most successful yet.
Committee member Lesley Warne said: "I think this was a record year, we certainly raised more than we did last year."
Although the final total has yet to be confirmed it is thought the day raised about £5,000 for the churches.
The next event planned in the area will be a flower show at St Paul's Church all day tomorrow.
