28340/1GREEN-FINGERED residents on a Trowbridge estate are being urged to show off their gardens and scoop a cash prize.
People living in Studley Green have so far ignored the chance to enter the second annual gardening competition, organised by the Tenants and Residents Association (TARA).
Organisers believe there is a wealth of talent on the estate waiting to be uncovered and are hoping the success of TV gardening shows like Ground Force might encourage people to enter.
Committee member Teresa Hornblow said: "People are always crying out there is
nothing to do on this estate. I have started a gardening club on Tuesdays and that attracted the grand total of three at the first meeting.
"People should be proud of their gardens. There is all this talent, it would be nice to get it seen."
The competition has three categories; best front garden, best rear garden and best hanging basket. Winners in each class win a £20 prize with runners-up scooping £10.
Entry forms can be handed in at Studley Green Resource Centre, Manor Road before July 11. Judging will take place on July 18.
