WEIGHTS were fairly even in the inter-club match between Warminster and Airsprung at Berkeley Lake.
Warminster won with 117lb 1oz, to Airsprung's 73 lb 4 oz. Individual winner was Airsprung's Mike Withey, of Westbury, with a carp catch of 29lb, taken on pole-fished worm on a 16 hook.
Runner-up was Rob Trim, of Warminster, with a carp catch weighing 28lb 4oz, taken on feeder-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
Team-mate Richard Penn was third with a carp catch weighing 23lb 8oz, taken on feeder-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
Other placings (all Warminster): 4 Ray Ware, 18lb; 5. Brian Trim, 17lb 4oz; 6 Tony Day, 12lb 6oz.
Weights were well down in the Ivy House Wednesday open match.
Julian Heaven, of Chippenham, won with a carp catch weighing 27lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn on a 14 hook. Close on his heels came Gary Etheridge, of Devizes, with a carp catch weighing 26lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished pellets and sweet corn. Alan Smith, of Ivy House, was third with a carp catch weighing 17lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished pellets.
Ivy House Fishery again produced low weights in the open match. Neil Hawke, of Bathampton, won with a carp catch weighing 25lb 10oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn and casters.
Competitors in the Airsprung match on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Moulton Drive on Friday had to contend with heavy boat traffic and weights were low.
Lee Ovens, of Trowbridge, won with a skimmer catch weighing 2lb 10oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots on a 20 hook.
Roger Green, of Trowbridge, was second with another skimmer catch weighing 1lb 10oz, also taken on pole-fished red maggots on a 20 hook. Similar tactics gave third prize to Bill Turner, of Trowbridge, with a skimmer catch weighing 1lb 8oz. Steve Green, of Trowbridge, was fourth with a skimmer catch weighing 1lb 6oz.
Weights were even in the Wilts Angling open match at Rood Ashton on Thursday.
Dave Bancroft, of Trowbridge, won with an all-carp catch weighing 44lb 4oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook. Gary Dallimore, of Frome, was second with a carp catch weighing 41lb 9oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook.
He was followed by Tony Mumford, of Trowbridge, with a carp catch weighing 33lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook.
Other placings: 4 Paul Bond, Trowbridge, 29lb 8oz; 5 Harry Hudd, Bath, 27lb 12oz; 6 Fred Eagles, Trowbridge, 27lb.
Carp again made up the weights in the Wilts Angling open match on Sunday at Witherington Farm.
Steve Gardner, of Chippenham, won with a carp catch weighing 83lb 2oz, taken on legered-luncheon meat on a 12 hook.
Runner-up was Dave Baker, of Trowbridge, with a carp catch weighing 57lb 3oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn on a 12 hook. He was followed by Ian Willetts, of Bradford, with a carp catch weighing 54lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook.
Other placings: 4 Jeff Matthews, Trowbridge, 47lb 15oz; 5 Nick Johns, Trowbridge, 45lb 11oz; 6 Howard Carpenter, Trowbridge, 40lb.
