CHARITY was the winner in a special match played at Melksham.
As part of Wiltshire Bowls Association's 90th anniversary celebrations they entertained Dennyside Bowls Association at the Cooper-Avon Club on Monday.
Many of the Dennyside players had travelled long distances to play in the match.
Dennyside, named after founder Leonard Denny, is a bowls association that raises funds for charity at all their matches.
The guest of honour was Michael MacMahon, the regional fundraising officer for the Stroke Association, who was presented with a cheque for £1,100 at the after-match meal.
The money was raised through donations from the players and officials from both teams, with Dennyside also contributing to the final total from their funds.
The two sides enjoyed a fine match played in a wonderful spirit with the visitors coming out on top 111-96.
