THERE were mixed fortunes for Cricklade, who suffered their first defeat of the season in the Swindon & District Four Rink Bowls League on Tuesday but recovered their winning ways two days later.
In the first of their games they were beaten by the narrowest of margins in a thrilling encounter with Supermarine A, who came out on top with an 83-82 shot victory thanks to the efforts of Brian Brown, 25-12 against Dennis Impey and Alan Penfold, 26-20 against Eddie Wells.
In their second game, Cricklade took on Supermarine's B team and normal service was resumed, with Cricklade running out winners by 84 shots to 72.
Hot on their heels are Rodbourne Cheney following an 81-74 shot success over Shrivenham, which leaves them as the only unbeaten team in the league, just a few points behind Cricklade but with a game in hand.
