THREE generations from one family teamed up to compete in a Swindon & District women's competition at Westlecot.
Eileen Arkley, her daughter Andrea Jones and granddaughter Val Craig were representing Rodbourne Cheney against Westlecot in the S&D Women's Swindon Charity Triples.
Mum Eileen, 81, has been playing bowls for 25 years but Andrea, 58, and Val, 36, are newcomers to the game.
Andrea has been playing for just two years while Val has only been playing for a year.
Unfortunately, there was no fairytale ending for the family triples team.
The Arkleys led up to the 13th end, but were pegged back to 12-12. A four conceded on the next proved costly, and they never recovered.
They were eventually beaten 19-13 by the more experienced Westlecot trio of Chris Cottle, Linda Perfitt and Marian Jones, but only after a spirited showing.
