30972-21BUDDING Gordon Ramsays in Swindon cooked up a feast fit for a future king. Student chefs prepared a mouth-watering buffet for Prince Charles' visit to Marlborough.
His Royal Highness tucked into the spread with 150 other dignitaries as the town celebrated its 800th birthday.
The food ranged from smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches to deep fried tiger prawns.And it was all garnished with crowns of cucumber, tomato baskets and spring onion flowers.
The 18 NQV students at Swindon College's North Star campus were thrilled to be asked to do the catering for the visit.
Programme leader Steve Matthews said: "We did the buffet for the town's May ball two years ago and we're delighted to be asked back.
"It's a great honour and something the students will remember for the rest of their lives. They have done brilliantly and the food looks superb.
Four students Laura Bowles, 17, Edward Jell, 18, Stuart Ockwell, 18, and Christopher Fisher, 18, were selected to serve the food because of their outstanding performance at college.
Laura said: "It's a great privilege to be chosen to do this."
Prince Charles' visit was the highlight of the celebrations which have been arranged to to mark the 800 years since Marlborough's royal charter was granted by King John.
The prince flew in by helicopter and admired the town's architecture before enjoying the buffet.
