Ref. 30996-08International cuisine was proudly shown off in Swindon at the weekend. BHAVANI vadde put some to the test
THE aroma of cuisine from around the world wafted through the air at an international food festival.
Women from Swindon's Muslim community served up mouth-watering dishes from their countries of origin in aid of children's charities.
Cooks from non-Muslim countries such as Italy and Poland also joined in.
People of all ages and backgrounds devoured food from four different continents at the Oasis Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Organiser Aleya Begum, 27, said: "The women got together and pooled their talents so their culinary skills could be enjoyed by everybody.
"There are people from all cultures here, it is a really good way of uniting people."
"It is the second time we have organised an international food fair. Last time we raised more than £2,000 and we want to top that."
Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Swindon-based Koalas group as well as children's charities working in Iraq and China.
