TWO shopkeepers have been fined for not storing fireworks correctly.
Last October, a routine inspection by Swindon Trading Standards officers found fireworks at Penhill Stores in Cricklade Road breached the safe storage requirements as required by the Explosives Act 1875
Harijinder Kaur Mudhar and Surinder Singh Mudhar both faced three charges under the legislation relating to the quantity of fireworks stored and the way they were stored.
They were fined £150 on each of the three charges, a total of £450 each, and ordered to pay £600 costs.
The Explosives Act is intended to protect the public, shop staff and residents by ensuring that fireworks are stored in a strong and enclosed container to protect against accidental ignition.
