A MISUNDERSTANDING resulted in a smashed window when Louise Smith paid an early hours visit to her mother's house after being locked out of her own by her boyfriend.
Smith, 29, of The Circle, Pinehurst, knocked on her mother Adrienne's door at 3.30am and shouted that her boyfriend had her keys, prosecutor Richard Thomas told Swindon magistrates.
"She ignored invitations to come in and talk about the problem later after a sleep," he said.
After a while her mother gave up and closed the door. "Then she heard shouting and what she thought was an explosion," he said.
Mrs Smith realised a large stone had been thrown through her picture window in the lounge.
Lee Mott, defending, said Smith had gone around to her mother's because she and her boyfriend had an argument and he locked her out.
"She had not appreciated her mother's predicament and was wrapped up in her own concerns. She was in a terrible state."
Her mother lost patience and closed the door and she felt affronted.
"It was a tantrum a fit of pique," Mr Mott said.
Smith admitted criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.
The bench asked for a pre-sentence report and adjourned the hearing until July 6.
