Gloucestershire hung on for a draw at the Brit Oval against Surrey, who would have claimed a straightforward win if they had caught their catches.
Trailing by 230 after their first innings, Gloucestershire finished the day on 255 for nine with Jonathan Lewis unbeaten on 34.
Ally Brown was the biggest culprit missing three chances at slip. The Surrey first innings centurion failed to hang onto opportunities from Matt Windows, Chris Taylor, and when his side were striving to take the final Gloucestershire wicket, Lewis.
Jimmy Ormond bowled with intelligence to put Surrey within sight of their second victory in three matches but Alex Gidman and Stephen Adshead, aided by a brief break for rain, held Surrey up with a partnership of 44 before Gidman lost his off stump. Rikki Clarke took a low tumbling catch to remove Philip Weston for a patient 31 made from 91 balls but their inability to take their other chances cost them dear.
