HIGHWORTH'S bid to build a skate park reaches a crucial stage tonight.
The Highworth Sk8ters are due to meet town councillors to lobby for support.
Campaigners say the best location would be on the Rec near the youth shelter.
But the plans are expected to spark concerns about noise and anti-social behaviour.
Residents are invited to express their views at the meeting.
The site was picked from four suggestions three on the Rec and one at Crane Furlong.
Councillors will be shown images of how the area would look. The skaters want a selection of small ramps and grind-rails.
Claire Titcombe, of the Sk8ters, believes it is the right location and will help prevent anti-social behaviour. "The police also think it is the best site," she said. "It is open, so officers can easily keep an eye on it. The A361 is nearby, and would act as a buffer against noise.
"If we give young people something to do it will help alleviate the problems."
The meeting starts at 7pm in the council chamber.
