Dinton 143-8 lost to Compton & Chandlers Ford II 144-1
ON an overcast day, Compton entertained Dinton and on winning the toss, invited the visitors to bat.
Dinton made steady progress through the opening overs, bringing up the 50 in the 16th over. Randall, 35, looked good, reeling off a series of boundaries.
When Compton's skipper introduced himself into the attack, the run-rate dropped and wickets started to fall at regular intervals. At the 30-over mark, Dinton were 94-4 with a lot of work still to be done to set a respectable total.
Roberts, 13, and Simon Rawlins, 16, set about trying to redress the balance with an important partnership. But when Roberts became Dearlove's first victim in his eighth over Dinton were in trouble.
Farrow finished with figures of 6-35 from 12 overs while Dearlove, 2-39, was the other wicket taker as Dinton closed on 143-8.
Compton's openers were in positive mood, determined not to give their wickets away in order to gain maximum batting points.
Lowman and P. Lawrence added 112 for the first wicket, but the partnership was broken when Roberts caught Lawrence down the leg side off Cridge whose seven overs produced figures of 1-35.
This proved Dinton's only success of the afternoon as Compton wrapped up victory in the 30th over.
Lowman remained unbeaten on 69 with T. Lawrence 15 not out.
