GAZETTE & HERALD: Talented young chefs whipped up tantalising meals in the new Young Chef Contest organised by Chippenham Rotary Club.
Abbeyfield School pupil Michael Whytock won top prize for his tagliatelle main course and chocolate and orange mousse dessert.
He beat off fierce competition from 14 young chefs from Abbeyfield, Hardenhuish and Sheldon schools.
The judges were restaurant owner Alan Starling and the Tynings front of house manager, Liz Wheeler, both skilled in assessing professional chefs. They praised the high standard achieved by all the 13 and 14-year olds who had a budget of a maximum of £7 for the two course meal.
Second prize went to Lewis Dolman of Hardenhuish School and the team prize of a Panasonic Bread Maker went to Hardenhuish School, which hosted the event in its Design Technology Centre on June 15.
