Pupils at Grange Junior School in Swindon enjoyed an all-new educational experience this week when the npower Power Day team visited the school on Tuesday, thanks to Sharon Savage, who works at npower's Mistral House, also in Swindon.
Sharon won a Cricket Power Day for her daughter, Carrie-Ann Savage, and her school through a staff website competition.
She said: "I was astonished, l could not believe it. Carrie-Ann and her friends really looked forward to a reward and some relief after her SAT tests which is why I entered the competition in the first place."
Npower, one of the largest national energy providers, visits schools across the UK to deliver a series of workshops on subjects including team power, highlighting the importance of working together to achieve goals, and natural power, where pupils learn about non-renewable and renewable forms of energy, showing the importance of conserving energy for the good of the environment.
Pupils built an innovative cricket flag and flag pole and had the chance to test their 'explosive power' by running between the wickets.
One hundred and ten Year 6 pupils at Grange Junior School took part in the activities which included a combination of hands-on activities, video presentations and team challenges.
Liz Gater, npower's education development officer, said: "Npower has hundreds of employees and thousands of customers in this area, so it's important to us to invest our time and energy in what's important to them."
