Malmesbury businessman Mark Foster was horrified when his special Euro 2004 flag was stolen from outside his shop.
Mr Foster was flying the flag outside his business, Amanda's Kitchen, to celebrate the England team's performance.
He locked up on Friday night and when he came back early Saturday morning he noticed that the flag was gone, meaning thieves must have scaled a 15ft high wall.
He said: "It's not like it was particularly expensive or anything, but its just a sad day when you can't even celebrate your country's football success without having to worry about crime."
The flag was in a holder, normally used for a Christmas tree, 15ft high on a wall outside the shop in Oxford Street.
"We had only had the flag a couple of weeks and I just can't believe that there are people out there who would go to all that effort just to steal a flag you can buy from any shop."
On the same night in Malmesbury, The Bakehouse had its front window smashed, resulting in £850 worth of damage. It is possible Mr Foster's flagpole was used to cause the damage.
