Hinton Charterhouse v Malmesbury: A FOUR-wicket haul from skipper Richard Mosdell helped propel Malmesbury to a 55-run victory.
Malmesbury won the toss and batted first. Richard Gaunt and BK Majumder got off the mark but Majumder fell for 14 when he was bowled lbw by Tom Hamilton.
Jeremy Newman came in at number three and kept the runs ticking over before more wickets fell.
Gaunt went for 19 when he was caught by Nigel Thomas off the bowling of Graham Tanner and Newman was removed LBW by Billy Edwards for 20.
Batting at number four James Pearce-Smith held the Malmesbury innings together. He batted superbly and finished on 45 not out at the end of the innings as he worked with much of the tail end to keep the total rising.
When Mark Lester (4) and Ian Gould (1) were sent back to the pavilion in quick succession Malmesbury were under pressure to put up a competitive total.
But Glyn Rhys-Jones obliged with a solid knock of 30 before being caught by Matt Parfitt off a Hamilton delivery.
Dan Horton also weighed in with 24 runs off 14 balls before he also succumbed to the bowling of Hamilton.
But Pearce-Smith was still going strong and was 45no alongside Martin Bridge (1no) at the end of the Malmesbury innings.
At the end of their allotted 45 overs the visitors reached a total of 173-7. Hamilton was Hinton's chief wicket-taker with 4-48.
Hinton opener Parfitt was removed for just one run when he was caught by Mosdell off Horton's bowling.
Barry Maggs only made seven before being caught by Bridge off a Majumder delivery and Andrew Fussell scored a duck as Horton picked up his second wicket.
Jason Jenkins offered the only real resistance for Hinton as he passed his half-century before being bowled by Mosdell for 52. Mosdell also removed Hamilton for 12 and Jenkins was bowled by Edward Shellard for 20 as Hinton lost their sixth wicket.
Nigel Thomas played steadily as he reached 17 not out but his final four partners were skittled out for a combined total of just one run.
They were all out for 118 after 33.4 overs. The pick of the Malmesbury bowling was Mosdell (4-19), Shellard (2-17) and Horton (2-35).
