Corsham v Thornbury
CORSHAM battled out a well-earned draw in another close match against Thornbury.
It was the Gloucestershire side who won the toss and elected to bat first at Corsham's Station Road ground.
They started extremely well with Neil Stovold and Paul Holder at the wicket. The pair batted well and quickly passed the 50-run mark.
The partnership was eventually broken up with the Thornbury total on 79. Holder was caught by Paul Clifford off the bowling of Richard Foley for 34.
Budd came in to join Stovold and made 14 runs before being bowled to leave the visitors on 117-2.
Things were looking a little ominous as White and Stovold to the score past 175. But Corsham then hit back with a quick burst of wickets, sparked by White being bowled by Craig Chaplin for 18.
Stovold was finally removed after making a superb 96 when he was caught and bowled by Foley.
Thornbury were quickly reduced to 184-5 when de Groot was bowled by Clifford without making a run.
But Pritchard, batting at number five, did settle in well and helped take Thornbury comfortably past the 200-mark. The next wicket came when Richard Cartwright went for five runs after being bowled by Clifford with Thornbury on 222-6.
Wormwell then came in to partner Pritchard and the pair successfully saw out the innings.
Pritchard finished on 34 not out and Wormwell on two not out as Thornbury closed on 232-6 after their allotted 55 overs.
Clifford was the pick of the Corsham bowlers taking three wickets for 58 runs while Foley weighed in with 2-57.
Corsham had a nightmare start to their batting when they were reduced to 1-1 after Rob Shillaker was bowled lbw by Wormwell for a duck.
Kaushik Aphale joined Peter Dennett at the wicket and the pair recovered things as they enjoyed a 50-run partnership.
Their stand ended though when Aphale was caught by Budd off the bowling of Wormwell for 14.
Dennett was run out soon after as Corsham were reduced to 71-3.
But Foley and Steve Copland turned in another handy partnership of 50 runs that got the innings going again.
Foley was eventually caught by de Groot off White's bowling for 29 with Corsham on 118-4.
Mark Hadrill made 17 before being caught by Holder off White's delivery.
But Corsham's innings received another shot in the arm when Toby Sharpe joined Copland at the wicket.
The pair added another 50 plus runs to the total and when Copland was run out for 38 Corsham were on 192-6.
Sharpe reached 49 before being caught by Stovold off Wormwell's bowling but Corsham had plenty of wickets in hand.
Clifford (14 not out) and Neil Shardlow (6no) saw out the remaining overs as Corsham finished on 226-7 to claim a draw. Wormwell (3-24) and White (2-59) were the pick of the Thornbury bowlers.
