Division One
WITH Great Bedwyn and Marshfield both winning, the gap between them and the chasing sides has grown to 40 points.
Bedwyn gained a further four bonus points on Marshfield.
Thanks to Neil Maycock (107 not out) and Rob Palmer (52), Great Bedwyn closed at 278-6 in their home game with Bath Civil Service.
The visitors were then bowled out in their forty-fourth over for 226, with John Fair making 82 and Mike Smith 77.
Marshfield gained a narrow two wicket win at Westinghouse to maintain their undefeated status.
A fine 84 not out from Chris Ferris helped Westinghouse to 169-7. John Cleverley then took 5-39 in his 15 overs but it was not enough as, thanks to Rupert Crockett (3), Marshfield won with six overs to spare.
Of the chasers, Calne's home encounter with Box was brought to an early close by heavy rain showers, the match being abandoned with Calne on 94-3, James Mailing (47 not out) and Liann Botes (36 not out) starting to look ominous after the fall of three early wickets.
Purton recovered after three successive defeats to inflict a four wicket defeat on Collingbourne in a low scoring encounter which was also rain affected. Collingbourne were bowled out for 86 with Dale Bowler taking 6-30.
Purton then reached their revised total of 74 losing six wickets in the process, Ghais Khan taking 4-32.
Nationwide House gained only their second win as they scored 233-5 at home to Potterne, Kevin Flay contributing 107.
Fred Kerley, with 3-84 in 15 overs, was the most successful of the Potterne bowlers. Stephen Lewis then took 6-15 in nine overs as Potterne subsided to 42 all out in just 17.1 overs.
Division Two
LEADERS Spye Park extended their lead as they gained a narrow one wicket victory at third placed Urchfont.
Urchfont, thanks mainly to Paul Wiley (83 not out) scored 205-8. Andy Beal (51 not out) then top scored for Spye Park as their winning runs came with three balls remaining. Lindsay Fortune took 4-26 in 15 very accurate overs.
The next seven places are covered by just 20 points.
Lechlade drop to third following a second successive defeat, this time at Swindon Civil Service. Runs were hard to get for Lechlade as they struggled to 129-7 in their allotted overs. Then Andy Mildenhall (56 not out) and Mike Hayward (35) helped the Civil Service to knock off the runs in 25 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Seagry entertained Sutton Veny who scored 185-6, Colin Brown (59) and Roger Mead (46) top scoring as Willy Tidmarsh took 5-53 in 14 overs. Having lost one over to rain and needing 182 in 44 overs, Seagry reached their target for the loss of just three wickets in 38 overs, thanks to Adam Lawrence (61), Alex Fereday (62), and Paul Lewis (32 not out).
Buscot Park were back on the winning trail as they easily accounted for struggling Beanacre by nine wickets.
Mark Smith, 3-13 in 7 overs, and Steve Hughes, 3-10 in 3.4 overs (the wickets coming in his last four balls), were largely responsible for seeing Beanacre dismissed for 107. John Morton (34 not out) then top scored in the Buscot reply of 108-1.
Burbage and ER still seek their first win after losing by 15 runs at Cooper-Avon Tyres. Cooper-Avon scored 214-8, Dean Wallington (66), Steve Rendell (53) and Simon Bailey (37) the top scorers. The pick of the Burbage attack was Mick Cook, with 3-45 in 14 overs. Rich Jory, 4-47 in 15 overs, and Rendell, 3-48 in 9.5, were largely responsible for Burbage being bowled out for 199 with seven ball remaining, despite the efforts of Roger Cady (65 not out) and John Wheeler (34).
Division Three
A BIG surprise in this Division was a first defeat for leaders Avebury who went down by five wickets at Wroughton Wranglers.
Avebury made 174-8 with John Rhineberg making 52 and Rob Gater 51. Mark McMeekin took 3-44 in 14 overs and Nick Evans 4-56 in 15. Evans (53 not out) and Mike Nettlefold (68) then steered Wroughton home with an over to spare.
Blunsdon stay second after they bounced from last week's defeat to beat Heytesbury. Pete Becket (64) and Rob Harrison (35) added 82 for the fifth wicket to help Blunsdon to 179 all out, Rob Barnes taking 4-43 in 14 overs as Buscot's last six wickets fell for just nine runs. Heytesbury made a solid start but then collapsed as Dave Wilson picked up 7-30 in 12.4 overs to see them all out for 82 in the 26th over.
Highworth continue to struggle as they lost again, this time at Wanborough. They did well to restrict their hosts to 176-8 with Dave Gough taking 3-53 in 13 overs as Mike Pethick top scored with 44. David Cox, with 6-35 in 14.3 overs, then made sure Highworth had to struggle for runs and only Vijay (47) enabled them to manage 118 all out.
Moredon Royal Oak picked up valuable points and dented Swindon 3rds recovery as they won by two wickets. Swindon made 185-9, with Andy Trebick (60) and Clive Iles (36) the major contrubutors as Steve Williams took 3-45 in 13 overs and Ian Morton 3-53 in 12. Despite Prasad taking 3-34 in eight overs and Chris Mabberley 2-50 in 14 it was Barry Sellar (61), Mo Farouk 42 and Tim Saint (36 not out) who saw Moredon to victory with eight balls to spare.
The game at Cherhill saw the home side score 110-1 against Lambourn, with Ian Hardy 64 not out and Mike Butt 22 not out before rain put paid to any further cricket.
Division Four
LEADERS Bradford Town gained an impressive victory over struggling Mildenhall.
In among the showers they raced to 263-7 declared in just 36.2 overs, thanks laregely to Clive Warren (25) and James Edwards (75), who set them on their way with an opening stand of 49. They were ably supported by 69 from James Pike. Mildenhall were then bowled out for 53, with Tony Laws taking 7-22 in 13 overs and Sam Edwards 2-19 in 12, with James Edwards taking three fine catches behind the stumps.
Keevil lost ground at Litten Tree, who made 237 all out, with Julian Brown making 77 and Robert Mercer contributing 47. For Keevil Paul Fennel took 5-45 in 13 overs and Tony Rosling 3-61 in 10. With Phil Tonks taking 3-27 in 10 and Garry Comley 3-11 in six overs Keevil crashed to their lowest ever league total as they were bowled out for 55, of which Fennel made 32 not out).
Dauntsey Gentlemen scored 144 all out against visitors Coates, with Tony Summers and Jim Smith both getting 31. For Coates Tony Sanderson took 4-32 in 15 overs and Will Sanderson 3-27 in five overs.
Paul Biggs replied with 5-15 in six overs as Coates could manage only 83 all out in reply.
Bathford were bowled out for 97 at Wilcot with Paul Jackson (22) top scoring. Graham Smith, with 4-20 in 13 overs, and Martin Cook, 2-16 in six, were the pick of the Wilcot attack. In reply, thanks to Chris Hyde (50 not out) and Alistair Fry (22), Wilcot gained a six wicket win as Paul Merritt picked up 3-39 in 12.2 overs
Division Five
NATIONWIDE House 2nds' unbeaten record went as they lost by 99 runs at Warminster 3rds.
Thanks to Colin Webb (64), Paul Drew (58) and Tom Davey (47) Warminster made 217 all out, Des Harman taking 3-48.
Drew then followed up by taking 6-37 in 15 overs and with Tony Bush taking 3-37 in 15 Nationwide were bowled out for 118.
This setback allowed Purton 2nds to move to the top of the table with a maximum points win at United Churches. Alan Gooding (36) top scored in the Churches' total of 148 all out, with John Dunn taking 6-30 in 15 overs. Dave Allen (81 not out) and Alan Woolford (52 not out) saw Purton to victory by nine wickets with ten overs to spare.
Marshfield 2nds entertained Westinghouse 2nds and scored 152 all out as Chris Penfold took 5-39 in 12 overs. Andy Hampton responded with 7-24 in 11 overs to help bowl the visitors out for just 67.
Devizes 3rds made a useful 183 all out at home to Buscot Park 2nds, thanks to Richard Reid (42), Stephen Drewett (35) and Andrew Logan (35). Willy Townsend, 3-49 in 14.3 overs, and Glen Townsend, 3-54 in 14, were the pick of the Buscot attack. A fine 95 not out from Des Williams then set Buscot on the way to a comfortable eight wicket win with seven overs remaining.
Both wickets falling to young James Moor, who had 2-46 in 11 overs.
Division Six
ANOTHER unbeaten record went as Nettleton succumbed at All Cannings.
Richard Holman (64), Kevin Ryles (33) and Garry Perrett (25) helped All Cannings to 181 all out as Steve Sandells took 5-27 in his 15 overs.
Keith Bills, 5-38 and Ryles, 2-8, then helped bowl Nettleton out for 103.
This defeat dropped Nettleton to third place as they were overtaken by Beehive Bradford and Calne 2nds.
Beehive Bradford bowled out strugglers Wootton Bassett 3rds for 177 in which Jim Burns made a valuable 90 and Brian Thurkell 35. Nigel Reeves, 3-32 in 7 overs, and Lea Hambley, 4-12 in 4 overs, picked up most of the wickets.
Adrian Day (42 not out), Mike Reeves (26 retired hurt) and Mike Spong (20) then helped Beehive to a six wicket victory with five overs remaining. Andy Stephens, 2-21, and Brian Thurkell, 1-33 in 15 accurate overs, made sure it wasn't easy.
Calne 2nds visited winless Box 2nds, who scored 177-9 thanks to Mat Hope (62) and Mark Baker (74). Tom Knight (62 not out) then led Calne to a four wicket win with seven overs in hand.
Goatacre 3rds had Andy Donnegan (127 not out) and Andy Sandell (46) to thank as they posted a total of 238-4 against visiting Lacock. Clive Harding was the pick of the Lacock bowlers with 1-40 in 15 overs. Lacock were then bowled out for 112 with Tony Edwards (31) and Paul Steans (31) top scoring as Paul Henley took 3-18 in seven overs and Andy Staravslovski 4-43 in 13.
Division Seven
THE meeting of the top two sides at Collingbourne saw visitors Trowbridge A gain an emphatic eight wicket win.
Collingbourne 2nds were bowled out for 58 with Rob Stamp top scoring with 20 and Dave Kemp taking 8-28 in 10 overs. Dave Gibson (22) and Andy Jefferies (16 not out) then helped Trowbridge to their win.
Cherhill 2nds returned to second place following a narrow nine run win at Corsham 4ths. Dave Hewins (53) and Malcolm Parrack (42) helped Cherhill to 170-7 as Terry Rogers, 3-65 in 15 overs, and Nevil Dennett, 1-28 in 15 overs, shared the brunt of the bowling for Corsham. Corsham then slumped to 4-3 after just three overs but John Gale (82) then set them on the way until he was brilliantly caught and bowled by Terry Carpenter who ended with 4-39 in eight overs. He was supported by Paul Andrews, 3-27 in 15 overs, Gale's dismissal proved the turning point as the runs dried up and Corsham ended on 161-9.
At Bath Civil Service 2nds visitors Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nds scored 231-6 with James Woodward (49) and John Helps (33) top scoring. Dave Potter, with 2-39 in his 15 overs, was the pick of the Civil Service bowlers. Despite Potter's 42 and Ian Ryder's 62 the Bath side were dismissed for 183 in the 40th over.
The difference between the sides was perhaps the catching, Cooper-Avon holding their and Civil Service put ting some down.
Division Eight
BIDDESTONE 3rds retained their unbeaten status and extended their lead as they defeated second placed Chippenham 4th by six wickets.
Chippenham made 191 all ut with Majid Quereshi top scoring with an unbeaten 49 and Kris Beasley taking 4-49 in 11 overs.
Darrel Smith (66) and Chris Casey (61 not out) then ensured a smooth passage for Biddestone.
United Churches 2nds leapfrogged Swindon 4ths into third place following their 71 run success. Vanzyl (43) and John Pazzard (45 not out) helped Churches to 207-9 and Neil Laing then took 5-26 in 15 overs to help bowl Swindon out for 136.
Blunsdon 2nds entertained All Cannings 2nds and scored 187-7, with Mike Walker making 69 not out and Luke Ambridge 28. For All Cannings Garry Perrett took 2-47 in 15 overs and Steve Duffy 2-19 in 10.
All Cannings were then bowled out in 20 overs for 76, with Dan Walker taking 3-24 in six overs and Paul Usher 3-8 in four overs.
Warminster 4ths returned to winning ways at Highworth 2nds, where they scored a daunting 275-8, with Rob Henderson (82) and Steve Logan (54) leading the run spree. With Dave Howden then taking 4-21 in nine overs, Highworth, despite 43 from Shaun Gibson, were bowled out for 178.
Bathford 2nds scored 202-3 at home to Devizes 4ths, with Mike Noel making 77 not out and Carlos Aguera 76.
Devizes then had a successful chase as thanks to Paul Ashman (59) and Chris Conway (42) they gained a three wicket win with 15 balls to spare. Ian Waller, with 3-51 in 15 overs, bowled well for Bathford.
