BBC'S Panorama on binge drinking proved the drinks industry is turning us into a nation of boozers. (June 6)
The programme didn't sit on the fence, nor should it with our town and city centres being turned into no-go areas for anyone sober and over 35.
So-called happy hour is a cultural disaster; milking the pockets of the young and destroying drinking in moderation.
And the intended cafe society has all the charm of a ferret in a rabbit hutch.
It will take more than a bit of tinkering to find our way back to sanity on this one but the longest journey starts with the first step.
The Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire on Panorama was upfront and involved in tackling the problem. Is he a trendsetter for others to follow?
