CALNE Rugby Club will be hoping for a little luck of the Irish next season following their new coaching appointment.
The club have looked to take their development another major step forward with the recruitment of a second coach, John Crozier, to compliment the good work already underway from Alan Matthews who joined the club at the end of last season.
Irishman Crozier's playing cv includes a spell at London Irish and a period in the top Welsh leagues.
Calne RFC development officer Matt Snell said: "His no-nonsense approach to rugby will complement our style of play. While our pack was competitive, in the least, last season the backs, despite a staggering amount of pace and potential in general, could not consistently impose themselves, as a cohesive unit, on a game or the opposition's defence.
"Crozier will specialise in back play, leaving Matthews to concentrate on developing the pack, whilst allowing Matthews more time to lead the recently formed junior section.
"With the addition of fitness coach Lucy Banbury, the club's new sports therapist and personal trainer, our coaching staff has never been so strong."
Snell said the effect of the new coaching set up is already having a very positive effect.
"The players and the club is already buzzing after just two weeks of pre-season," he added.
