SPYE PARK extended their lead at the top of Division Two as they gained a narrow one wicket victory at third placed Urchfont.
Urchfont, thanks mainly to Paul Wiley (83 not out), scored 205-8. Andy Beal (51 not out) then top scored for Spye Park as their winning runs came with three balls remaining.
Lindsay Fortune took 4-26 in 15 very accurate overs.
The next seven places are covered by just 20 points.
Lechlade drop to third following a second successive defeat, this time by seven wickets at Swindon Civil Service.
Seagry entertained Sutton Veny who scored 185-6, Colin Brown (59) and Roger Mead (46) top scoring as Willy Tidmarsh took 5-53 in 14 overs. Having lost one over to rain and needing 182 in 44 overs, Seagry reached their target for the loss of just three wickets in 38 overs, thanks to Adam Lawrence (61), Alex Fereday (62), and Paul Lewis (32 not out).
Buscot Park were back on the winning trail as they easily accounted for struggling Beanacre by nine wickets.
Mark Smith, 3-13 in 7 overs, and Steve Hughes, 3-10 in 3.4 overs (the wickets coming in his last four balls), were largely responsible for seeing Beanacre dismissed for 107. John Morton (34 not out) then top scored in the Buscot reply of 108-1.
Burbage and ER still seek their first win after losing by 15 runs at Cooper-Avon Tyres. Cooper-Avon scored 214-8, Dean Wallington (66), Steve Rendell (53) and Simon Bailey (37) the top scorers. The pick of the Burbage attack was Mick Cook, with 3-45 in 14 overs. Rich Jory, 4-47 in 15 overs, and Rendell, 3-48 in 9.5, were largely responsible for Burbage being bowled out for 199 with seven balls remaining, despite the efforts of Roger Cady (65 not out) and John Wheeler (34).
A BIG surprise in this Division was a first defeat for leaders Avebury who went down by five wickets at Wroughton Wranglers. Avebury made 174-8 before Nick Evans (53 not out) and Mike Nettlefold (68) steered Wroughton home with an over to spare.
Blunsdon stay second after they bounced from last week's defeat to beat Heytesbury. Pete Becket (64) and Rob Harrison (35) added 82 for the fifth wicket to help Blunsdon to 179 all out, Rob Barnes taking 4-43 in 14 overs as Buscot's last six wickets fell for just nine runs. Heytesbury made a solid start but then collapsed as Dave Wilson picked up 7-30 in 12.4 overs to see them all out for 82 in the 26th over.
Highworth continue to struggle as they lost again, this time at Wanborough.
Moredon Royal Oak picked up valuable points and dented Swindon 3rds recovery as they won by two wickets.
The game at Cherhill saw the home side score 110-1 against Lambourn, with Ian Hardy making 64 not out and Mike Butt 22 not out before rain put paid to any further cricket.
WITH Great Bedwyn and Marshfield both winning, the gap between them and the chasing sides has grown to 40 points.
Bedwyn gained a further four bonus points on Marshfield.
Thanks to Neil Maycock (107 not out) and Rob Palmer (52), Great Bedwyn closed at 278-6 in their home game with Bath Civil Service.
The visitors were then bowled out in their forty-fourth over for 226, with John Fair making 82 and Mike Smith 77.
Marshfield gained a narrow two wicket win at Westinghouse to maintain their undefeated status.
A fine 84 not out from Chris Ferris helped Westinghouse to 169-7. John Cleverley then took 5-39 in his 15 overs but it was not enough as, thanks to Rupert Crockett (37), Marshfield won with six overs to spare.
Calne's home encounter with Box was brought to an early close by heavy rain showers, the match being abandoned with Calne on 94-3, James Mailing (47 not out) and Liann Botes (36 not out) starting to look ominous after the fall of three early wickets.
Purton recovered after three successive defeats to inflict a four wicket defeat on Collingbourne in a low scoring encounter which was also rain affected. Collingbourne were bowled out for 86 with Dale Bowler taking 6-30.
Purton then reached their revised total of 74 losing six wickets in the process.
Nationwide House gained only their second win as they scored 233-5 at home to Potterne, Kevin Flay contributing 107.
Fred Kerley, with 3-84 in 15 overs, was the most successful of the Potterne bowlers. Stephen Lewis then took 6-15 in nine overs as Potterne subsided to 42 all out in just 17.1 overs.
