Our MP Dr Andrew Murrison is so right to condemn the nonsense from the EU about Melton Mowbray pies.
It is one example of a stream of nonsense from the same source, e.g. fishing rights for landlocked countries, removing hundreds of acres of forest in Anglesey used by endangered red squirrels, rules for giving a dog a bone and telling window cleaners how to hold ladders, banning summer railway timetables and stopping us burning cardboard.
This could be laughed off if the advantages of being at the centre of Europe were plain to see; but despite the efforts of British governments for years, our right to govern ourselves is continually undermined.
The EU's accounting is corrupt. It does provide social and economic benefits, but they are financed by our money contributed to the EU.
The threat of economic disaster if we left the EU is not borne out by Norway and Switzerland; they are extremely wealthy.
