28396/1THE promise of fun and entertainment brought more than 200 people out for a barbecue and get together at Longfield Community Centre on Sunday.
Wrestling star Jake the Snake Roberts and Mayor Grace Hill joined in the fun at the first big event organised by Longfield's new residents' association.
Activities, including a barbecue with food donated by Tesco and a bouncy castle from Trowbridge Town Council, enabled the group to raise over £200 for community funds.
Residents association chairman Andrew Purnell said: "It wasn't about raising money but about bringing people together and having a fun time."
Entertainment at the event, which ran from 2-10pm, was provided by Longfield's resident majorette troupe and the Starry Eyes singers and dancers. The wrestling club, which is based at the centre, gave energetic displays through the afternoon.
