THE Wiltshire Times has joined forces with the fire brigade and police in Trowbridge to help curb the spate of arsons plaguing the Seymour estate.
Up to 500 leaflets will be distributed to houses on the estate this weekend to help reduce the number of fires.
Arson Kills is a campaign aimed at helping householders reduce the risk of fire, and informing them what to do if they have information relevant to the police inquiry.
Damage running into thousands has been caused in more than a month of fires, with bins, fences and a jeep among the targets.
Police increased patrols and introduced spot-checks on the estate to help track down the culprits.
Ade Hurren, station officer, said crews would be distributing the leaflets to all Seymour households this weekend.
"I hope we will succeed in raising awareness among people on the estate, that arson is a problem," he said.
"We want them to be vigilant to the problem and know what to do if they have any information relevant to the investigation.
"There is a specific problem on Seymour but we issuing fire safety advice throughout Trowbridge.
"If someone is determined enough they can cause havoc but we don't want people to make their lives easy."
Arson Kills follows-on from a successful fire prevention campaign launched by our Chippenham News edition earlier this year.
