AVOIDING the kidney problems associated with diabetes will be the subject of next meeting of the Swindon group of the Diabetes UK charity.
Group secretary Matthew Spencer has invited Great Western Hospital specialist Dr Sahid Ahmed to give a talk.
Mr Spencer said: "Kidney damage is one of the possible complications arising from long-term or undiagnosed diabetes.
"However, if it is identified early enough the effects can be reversed.
"People with diabetes deserve to be well-informed of the possible symptoms in order to secure accurate diagnosis and speedy treatment."
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 6, at 7.30pm at the Broadgreen Centre, in Salisbury Street.
The group's meetings are open to anybody with an interest in diabetes and deal with a different subject each month to help diabetics maintain and improve their quality of life.
