31079-11An honest stranger has reunited a boy with the gift he bought for his dad on Father's Day.
Sam Poynter, eight, of Baytree Court, Pinehurst, was upset when he couldn't find a shopping bag containing his dad's new cigarette lighter, in a busy Swindon shop.
But after the Adver reported the incident earlier this week, a Swindon woman called our offices.
The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, said her daughter had spotted the bag on the floor of Card Warehouse, in The Parade, and taken it home.
She said: "When we got home we phoned the shop, and they said someone had lost a bag. When we saw your article we phoned the Adver immediately."
Sam, who had saved his pocket money to buy dad Adam the Pierre Cardin lighter, said: "I wanted to get dad the lighter because he has started smoking again. I bought it with pocket money. I'm really pleased to get it back."
Sam's mum Charlotte, 32, an assistant at Little Pinetrees playgroup, said: "It's great that this person has been honest enough to come forward with the lighter. A lot of people would have hung on to it.
"It's all thanks to the story appearing in the Adver."
Postman Adam, 36, said: "Father's Day is special in our house. You appreciate the family around you."
