TWO Swindon women have been released on police bail after being suspected of supplying drugs to a man who died at the Glastonbury Festival.

Neil Clinnings, 24, from the Cleveleys area of Lancashire, collapsed in a car park outside the festival site around 3am on Saturday.

Paramedics battled to save his life but he died 55 minutes later at the site's medical centre.

A post mortem examination was expected to be carried out today.

A 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman were arrested in the same area as the man was found collapsed. They are suspected of supplying class A drugs.

They were held at the festival custody centre at the Royal Bath and West Showground but were granted police bail pending further police inquiries.

Sergeant Bridget Maddaloni, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "The death is thought to be drug-related and not believed to be suspicious."

Despite this, police said there had been a big reduction in crime at the festival of 40 per cent compared with last year. At 4pm yesterday 242 crimes had been reported compared with 404 last year.

Drugs accounted for 35 per cent of these crimes and robberies were down by 87 per cent with only two reported incidents.

So far 119 people have been arrested compared with 168 in 2003.

The clean-up operation started today and is expected to take days with some 12,000 drums of rubbish to be collected.
