POLICE have distributed crime-prevention leaflets as part of a campaign to stop criminals targeting a sheltered housing complex.
All pensioners at crime-hit Arthur Bennett Court, in Birch Street, Kingshill, have received the leaflet on beating burglars.
Earlier this month, the Advertiser reported there had been a series of break-ins at the complex.
One pensioner, Derek Cox, 79, said an intruder entered his room through a window while he slept.
His wallet, containing credit cards and car keys were taken.
Later, it was discovered a handbag, containing a mobile phone and cash, had also been stolen.
Three weeks previously, £200 was stolen from another flat and thieves used the victim's credit card to steal a further £300.
Residents complained there were holes in a security fence and called on Swindon Council to install CCTV.
The leaflet, called Shut Up, warns of the dangers of leaving windows open and residents are urged to lock windows and report suspicious activity.
