SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: The bad weather may have turned a garden party into a kitchen gathering but that didn't dampen the Swindon Cancer Appeal fundraising spirit.
Tea, cakes and strawberries were on the menu at Paddy and John Marsh's Poulton Hill home in Marlborough.
Rowena Cotterill, 44, from Wroughton, attended the event. She said: "It was a lovely afternoon, and even though the weather kept people away there was still a steady stream of people coming in."
Former nurse Paddy, 75, who is still totting up the proceeds, said: "The appeal is such a worthwhile cause."
Meanwhile, on July 9 speed demons will have the chance to burn rubber at the Hullavington Ministry of Defence Airfield.
It will cost £99 for people to drive their own cars for as many laps as they wish during the event, which will run from 9am to 5pm.
Passengers pay £10 for a ride, which goes to the appeal, as does £10 for crash helmet hire.
For those who want to try something more racy, a £20 donation will secure a spin in a Porsche or Noble.
