Ref. 31110-23 Russell Archer gets to grips with some boxerciseYou're never too young to have a personal trainer, as these children have discovered.
Pupils at Brookfield Primary School, Shaw, got off to an energetic start to the day with fitness guru Les Slinn.
A total of 110 children from Years 3 and 6 took part in an hour of activities, including circuit training and boxercise.
Rachael Bartlett, 32, the school's PE coordinator, said the fitness sessions had been arranged to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
She said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed it and the staff joined in with fitness challenges too.
"It's important to show children that fitness can be fun, and that there are lots of different ways to be active. They all got out of breath in the hour session.
"It's something a bit different and exciting for them and it's good for us to be able to have the expertise of a professional like Les."
Alissa Johnson, 11, said: "It was really great. I liked the bit where you had to put the ball behind your back and move up and down to strengthen your back and tummy."
Jack Wilkinson, 11, said: "It was fun and good to try out."
His friend, 11-year-old Joe Rackham, enjoyed using a bungee rope to give his arms a work out. And Ross Shawe, 11, said: "It was fun when we stood on these weird shaped wobbly things because you fell backwards and forwards."
