A DAY at the races turned out to be a runaway success for the staff of Salisbury outfitters Chas H Baker.
The company, famous for ladies' and gent's clothing and school uniforms, sponsored the second race, named The Chas H Baker Maiden Fillies Stakes, at the meeting at Salisbury Racecourse last month.
It was won by favourite Dawn Surprise, ridden by Frankie Dettori.
The company presented a silver-framed photograph of her to a representative of her owners, Godolphin.
Chas H Baker store manager Gordon Plumb said the outing was organised by office manager Linda Cooper.
"We did this a few years ago and thought it would be nice to do it again," said Mr Plumb.
"It was an absolutely wonderful day - the sun shone, we were next to the finishing line and a few members of staff were able to go into the ring and look at the horses.
"One of our staff, Peter Smith, took lots of photos. We judged the best turned out horse to be Hunter's Valley and gave a donation to her stable lad.
"One or two of our staff had a good time financially as well, and overall, we just about broke even."
