THE piles of rubbish left in Stanton St Quintin churchyard have been shifted by a detachment of helpers from 95 Squadron, Royal Logistics Corps based at Hullavington.
The soldiers made short work of the piles of rubbish left in the churchyard by fly-tippers, and earned themselves the gratitude of the villagers.
Churchwarden Ivan Randall said: "It has been a real problem for the church and the village, so we were very happy when we heard that some of the soldiers had volunteered to help us.
"The churchyard has a lot of very special and fragile wildlife in it.
"There are rare flowers, grasses and a lot of resultant insect and bird life, and as a result it was a very beautiful place.
"But this was all completely spoiled by the rubbish that people kept on leaving there."
