DURRINGTON motorcycle wizard Daryl Bolter has become the youngest ever winner of the prestigious two-day Welsh Enduro event.
The nineteen-year-old race ace, who is riding high in third place in the European Enduro Championship, took on an international field of more than 500 riders.
He completed the gruelling 360-mile course just seconds faster than his nearest rival to secure the title.
The uniquely demanding "Welsh", which has been staged every year since 1951, consists of two 'laps' of 180 miles and takes in a maze of forest tracks and byways.
Riders are in the saddle for seven hours per day and are only able to take on fuel or carry out repairs at set staging posts.
Bolter finished day one with an eight-second lead.
On day two, hampered by a course rutted by the previous day's racing, he had to settle for second place behind Juan Knight of the Isle of Man, but it was not enough to rob him of overall victory.
The result provides a further boost to the Husqvarna rider's confidence ahead of the third European championship round, held in Italy on July 10.
Bolter was one of seven Salisbury riders who took part in last weekend's race.
In the Clubman's class, Alan Ranger finished 38th, Mark Lewis 44th, Ian Chall-oner 99th and Christopher Sheppard 105th. Martin Hart and Stephen Hall finished 14th and 30th respectively in the Sportsman's Class.
