Toddlers will be encouraged to make as much noise as possible on a giant drum bought by Calne's new Didgeridoo music pre-school.
The 1.1m diameter drum was handmade by a Bristol craftsman and is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK. "I saw the drum at the Chippenham Folk Festival and fell in love with it immediately," said Didgeridoo proprietor Miriam Sawyer,
"It is excellent for teaching rhythm, playing musical games and improving coordination."
Didgeridoo music pre-school recently opened in London Road, Calne. The drum can fit up to 16 children around it and helps to improve communication.
"The children are so excited when they see it," said nursery manager Rachel Manning. For details about Didgeridoo, ring (01249) 817596.
