DEVIZES and Malmesbury Maternity Units have been proven by many experts to work, are cost effective and patients are happy with the treatments received.
The Kennet and North Wiltshire Primary Care Trust insists it knows better and seems determined to close these units.
The ambulance service is not coping now so ferrying expectant mums around the county is another problem not thought through.
This body owes millions of pounds in debt, is not able to do its sums, cannot account for money spent, says if you could believe its estimate it will save £310,000 on closures.
If only it consulted the patients it claims to represent. Highly paid management and the disposal of Southgate House is by far a better solution.
