TOWN must add a chief executive to their summer shopping list after a dramatic day of departures but the vacancy left by outgoing assistant manager Malcolm Crosby is almost certain to be filled quickly.

The County Ground revolving door was in full swing yesterday with the news that both club supremo Mark Devlin and boss Andy King's No 2 Crosby were heading for the exit.

Chief executive Devlin has called time on his eventful two-year tenure to return and fill the same position at QPR.

Meanwhile Crosby, who turns 50 on Sunday, drew his four-year stay with the club to a close, and will take up a reserve team coaching role back in his native North East with Premiership Middlesbrough.

Boss King, who has already seen star striker Tommy Mooney quit this week, has moved quickly to cover the loss of Crosby.

Mike Walsh, assistant to both Steve McMahon and Jimmy Quinn in the late 1990s, is set to be installed as the new No 2 on a trial basis, and the manager also revealed that he expects to have at least one new young player signed from a top Premiership club when pre-season training starts on Monday.
