A MELKSHAM teacher received an award on Tuesday having been in the profession for less than three years.
Emma Summers, drama and English teacher at George Ward School, Melksham, was named outstanding new teacher in a secondary school at the regional teaching awards.
Mrs Summers is in her third year at the Melksham school and received the award at the sixth annual regional event at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.
Pam Stoate, headteacher at George Ward, said: "I am incredibly proud of what she has done as are the other teachers.
"It is a big thrill for her individually but also for the school as a whole."
Other Wiltshire teachers who were recognised include Hilary Eyley, of Corsham Primary School, who won an award in excellence in special needs teaching and Beth Brewer, of Matravers School, Westbury, who was given a commendation.
