WHEN Natallie Evans met Howard Johnston it was love at first sight, they were going to get married and start a family, but it all went wrong.

The pair met in 1999 when they were both working for Virgin Mobile, in Trowbridge.

She said: "It was love at first sight and it was a really good relationship, very loving and understanding."

When Mr Johnston proposed at the Eiffel Tower during a romantic break in Paris she was overjoyed.

They started trying for a family straightaway but, when Miss Evans hadn't become pregnant after 18 months, tests revealed she had ovarian cancer and treatment would leave her infertile.

Before her ovaries were removed doctors created six embryos, which could later be implanted in her womb.

The cancer treatment was successful and Miss Evans wanted to start trying for a family as soon as possible.

"The future was just rosy. We had the babies to look forward to and we were getting married, we both had good jobs and everything was perfect or so I thought."

Just six months later Mr Johnston decided to end the relationship and withdrew the consent needed for the embryos to be used.

Miss Evans was left devastated by the end of the relationship and, suffering from depression, she attempted to commit suicide, had to give up her job and lost her home.

Now studying to become an accountant and with a new home in Melksham, she has rebuilt her life but without Mr Johnston's consent she might never have the family she dreams of.

She said: "I can see his point of view but he went into it with his eyes open. He is not stupid, he knew what he was doing and he gave his permission he can't just take that away."
