SUMMERTIME has delivered a record-breaking baby boom at Longleat Safari Park.

In the past fortnight six new sea lion pups have been born and two wolf cubs made their first public appearances.

The sea lion pups were born in the same week the new Sea Lion Beach opened to visitors.

Keepers say the birth of two new wolf cubs is proof the park's breeding programme is a success.

The baby boom has also hit Deer Park and Monkey Jungle where over 50 young deer and 20 baby monkeys have been born this year.

Deputy headkeeper Ian Turner said: "It's the first time we have had so many babies born in a single year."

The new sea lion pups share their home with a pair of hippos called Spot and Sonia and gorillas Nico and Samba who live on an island in the centre of the lake.
