Plans for a three-bedroom house on land next to Sambourne Primary School in Warminster have been rejected.
Campaigners feared children walking to school would be at risk from the extra traffic generated by changes to the road system if the development had gone ahead.
West Wiltshire District Council Planning and Committee rejected the plan on Thursday.
