A WARMINSTER soldier lost his leg in a friendly fire incident in Iraq because of a faulty gun, a military appeals court heard last week.
Sgt Albert Thomson, 35, of Pepper Place, Warminster, had emergency surgery when a Warrior armoured personnel carrier unloaded four rounds into his left leg in Iraq last year. A military appeals hearing last week blamed electrical faults that lead to the mounted chain gun to fire by itself.
