IN last week's paper I was reading about bad response times for our Wiltshire ambulances. It's not the ambulance service that lets us down it's the Government who strangle the NHS of its vital resources.

If the Government want better response times they should give the ambulance service what it needs; more staff, more ambulances and most of all, money.

These people do this job because they want to help other people. It's hard to do your job with one hand tied behind your back with cut-backs.

These ambulance crews give their best all the time. As I see it, they deserve the very best support we can given them. We should stop moaning about star ratings and tables for our hospitals and ambulance crews.

The truth is if you take away resources then you get poorer services. If you invest you get a better service and happier staff. If I can work this out why can't the Government.

I say to the Government help the NHS and stop hindering it with stars and tables. I for one am very proud of our NHS in Wiltshire and they deserve our praise not our criticism. If anyone deserves zero star ratings and demoralising statistics it is the government who've been failing the people of Wiltshire for years.
