A young man from Trowbridge is preparing for a challenge of a lifetime when he jets off for an all-action adventure in Spain.

Tim Newman, 24, of Southwick, will be abseiling, canyoning and climbing in Spain's Sierra Nevada as part of Prospects Challenge 2004, which supports adults with learning disabilities.

Mr Newman, who has Down's Syndrome, will be teaming up with eight others for the trip, which includes a trek to the top of Mount Mulhacen.

The sponsorship money raised will go towards supporting a home in Romania for children with learning disabilities.

Mr Newman said: "We had a training weekend where we were able to try out some of the things we could be doing and I have also been taken on a couple of walks as preparation for climbing the mountain."

You can make a donation by cheque, made payable to Prospects and sent to Prospects Challenge, 38 Rodney Avenue, St Albans, Herts, AL1 5SX or by contacting the challenge office on (01727) 853717.
