THE retail revolution of Trowbridge will not have a negative impact on other west Wiltshire towns, says a report.

An economic impact study revealed Bath and Swindon could bear the brunt of lost trade if planned shopping and leisure projects come to fruition in Trowbridge.

Only Warminster could lose out if well-known stores move to the county town.

West Wiltshire District Council corporate director Ian Gallin said up to 2,300 retail jobs could be created, compared to just 300 if the status quo remained.

A review of car parking will be launched next month to work out how best to cater for the hoped influx of shoppers.

Mr Gallin said the Vision was about making the car less dominant in the town centre but not at the expense of forcing cars out to housing estates.

Council leaders are looking to appoint a project leader to oversee the scheme.
