Police have given a number of travellers who have set up camp behind Asda Wal-Mart their marching orders.
The group, who arrived in North Swindon at the beginning of last week, were told to leave by noon today.
They first camped on land in Blunsdon but moved to a site between Homebase and the former Old Grange Farm nursery last Monday.
The superstore's shift manager Mike Doidge said the group made the area look untidy.
He said: "They are causing a general inconvenience around the store and we would like the travellers moved away as soon as possible."
Insp Ian Stevenson confirmed that police had served the travellers notice to quit under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.
Last week, the travellers told the Evening Advertiser that they planned to bring more people into the area and settle down in Asda's car park for three weeks.
Traveller John Jones, 48, said: "We will be there for around three weeks, and then we will pack up and head for the Royal Welsh Show.
"The car park will be ideal because we can use the toilet facilities at Asda."
