GET set for a feast of fun on Saturday as the Wroughton Carnival takes to the streets. This year's will be the ninth carnival and looks set to be bigger than ever.

Carnival chairman and organiser Tim Benson said: "There are 25 floats taking part and we're confident the sun will shine."

The event kicks off at 2pm from the Fox and Hounds pub, when a vibrant procession heads for the High Street.

Led by the St Andrews Pipe Band, from Chelten-ham, the procession will feature twirling action courtesy of the Wessex Majorettes from Bournemouth.

More action lies in store in the Weir Field. A fun fair, go karts and bouncy castle are among the attractions.

Members of the Little Ninja and Junior Kickers martial arts groups will also be giving demonstrations.

In the evening a glam rock band from Merseyside called Koo Ka Choo will make the festivities go with a swing. Local band 24/7 has also been booked to perform.

At 6.45pm there will be a raffle draw and the festivities will come to an end with a firework display at 11pm.

The event is sponsored by Nationwide, Richard James estate agents, in Commercial Road and other businesses.

Admission to the field costs £1 from 2pm and £2 after 6pm. Children under 14 and OAPs are free. Volunteer stewards are needed. Call Tim Benson on 01793 814399.
