I NOTE with deep concern the increase in remunerations for councillors, after all the pleadings that they want to see the council tax spent in the places where it is most needed.

I will watch with interest how many councillors say the rise is against their principals and refuse to accept the recommendations. This would prove to us taxpayers that they aren't just in it for the money, but were elected to serve the taxpayers of this borough.

The councillors of days gone by must be turning in their graves to think how they have missed out on these bonanzas, but their reward was to serve.
